A quick story…

It was the year 2000, my first day of pre-season at Fresno State University of the Pac-12 (before the program was eventually cut in 2004 after my senior season due to Title 9).  I stood 5’5″ tall on a knee with a torn meniscus that needed surgery.
Once an average club player, I made it that far on pure work ethic and determination. Nonetheless, my body was breaking down from training hours on end and I was too stubborn to listen to anyone.   The athletic trainer at Fresno State said I needed an MRI and I finally got my knee fixed up.   3 seasons went by that I considered frustrating.
While I started the majority of matches,  I was struggling to stay healthy and I knew deep down I had more to offer as an athlete and player.   Getting beaten to the ball, knocked off of the ball, and not winning 50-50 tackles was getting really old.  You see, I thought I knew it all when it came to getting faster and how to eat and train as an athlete when in reality, I was clueless.

                                    Now what!?!?

Finally, out of desperation I gave in and decided to follow everything the strength and conditioning coaches prescribed instead of changing it and doing my own workouts.  While they were far from soccer preparation geniuses, during my senior year I started every match, never got hurt, and even went on to get All Tournament Team a couple of times.  The quick transformation opened my eyes to the possibilities of science-based sports training methods.  My vertical jump was still a measly 22 inches and my 40 yard dash was a not-so-lightening 5.2 seconds.
Since then,  in addition to hours on end studying and experimenting with my own athletes, I have traveled to clubs from around the world  such as Vasco Da Gama and Sao Paulo FC (Brasil), Ajax , Feyenoord, and Sparta FC (Holland), Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin (Germany), America and Chivas (Mexico) and LA Galaxy and Chivas USA (USA) to study how they prepare their players physically.

                          Fast forward to today…

Today, at age 30 I have a 30-inch standing vertical jump and my 40yd dash hovers around 4.6.  Credit goes to years of research and trial and error.  I am still no genetic freak, but for an endurance-blessed individual those improvements are not small.
